Articulate, reflect, collaborate
This mind map caters for all the different types of tools that can be used by students to reflect, articulate their thinking, and learn by collaborating with fellow students. This could be applicable across different stages of the learning process. If you take Bloom's taxonomy many of these types of apps could be described as being applicable to the stages: understanding, applying, analysing and evaluating.
Most of them concern text or audio based articulation. Although technologies already exist to achieve many of these tool types, the iPad's multimodality provides us an easier, more accessible, and much more wide ranging suite of applications to realise this type of activity. The term anytime, anywhere really does apply here.
